Kitty Hawks · Sunday Toon · gameplay prototype
Every plane here is flown by the same physics: lift from the wings, drag that bleeds speed in hard turns, gravity that trades height for speed, and stalls when you pull too hard and slow. The mice fly black fighters in waves of twenty, and the cats respawn when they go down. The cats carry parachute bombs that hang in the air like mines and blow up when a mouse flies close. Watch with the action camera, follow one cat, ride along in the cockpit, or take Kestrel's stick yourself. Land her at Kitty Hawk Field and you can hop out and man the anti-aircraft guns.
Starting…
Mouse fighters are lighter, quicker to die, and fire green tracers from two nose guns. They come in waves of twenty, and a new wave launches once the last one is gone.
On a phone, tap Tilt to fly and steer by tilting. Kestrel banks to match the phone, tipping the top of the phone toward you climbs, and tilting all the way over keeps her rolling. On a computer, click Phone controller and scan the code with your phone to use it as a wireless tilt stick. If up and down feel backwards, tap Flip up/down on the phone.
Bank, then pull to turn. Pull too hard when slow and the wing stalls. With mouse controls on, point where you want to fly and Kestrel banks and pulls to get there. Hold the left button to fire, right-click to drop a bomb, and scroll for throttle. Bombs float on their chutes and go off when a mouse flies close, and the blast throws everything nearby off course. You carry three, and they reload over time. The giant pines on the islands are solid: weave through them to scrape mice off your tail, but clip one and you lose a wing.
Kitty Hawk Field is the big flat island with the runway, and the chip under the buttons points the way home. Throttle back and come in under 130 knots with your wings level. Touchdown cuts the throttle so you roll to a stop, then press E to hop out. Walk to one of the three AA guns and press E to man it. On foot, W and S walk, A and D turn, Shift runs and Space jumps. On a gun, A and D swing it, W and S raise and lower it, and Space fires flak that bursts near mice. With mouse controls on, the gun swings toward the cursor and the left button fires. Mice will dive and strafe you while you're on the ground, and if they knock you out you're back in the air a few seconds later. To fly again, walk back to Kestrel, press E, throttle up and pull back.
Everything is simulated live in your browser, so no two fights play out the same. Damage, speeds and AI skill are first-pass tuning values.
